Near Yet Far

If you come from the times of my life you will understand how news papers where tagged.
Yesterdays news papers is today's waste paper
Today's news papers is tomorrows waste paper..

Does this ring a bell? People read news only to know what happened and where. By the time the news reaches via print medium the disaster if any, would also be undergoing recovery.

Well, what is my headline got to do with new yet far?? Well its our fast paced advent in technology. With the growth of technology in the current trend, I wish to redefine the same to news papers theory. Today's technology is tomorrows waste. Simply put that, its time for me to pen down how i used to enjoy usage of technology to the effect to getting closer to dear ones when there were far away.

Medium of communication, from physically writing letters to coded telegraphs. Now telegraphs being extinct and a museum piece. From telephones to hear loved ones to usage of cell phones and sms. From computers to smartphones all in ONE single device. Technology has taken ahead that no one looks up a dictionary or visits a library to learn from; its all in there, all u need is a simple internet connection and you are connected.

Yes it is still a boon to have a smart phone, i dont need to connect a dialup internet to a desktop which cannot move, and a separate telephone, a separate speaker, a separate camera, a separate headphones and to connect all into one desktop. Today everything is so connected that we need not miss anyone who is away from us. a click of a button in the handset we have and we can talk to any bloodly body we want to face to face. With AI(Artificial intelligence) may be even sit next to them.


Do i really want to sit next to someone who is afar? Yes i may for a few minutes, but i still prefer warm blood around me. To sit and have a cuppa looking into their eyes. To hug my kith and kin. To understand what kind of traditions where followed and its stories behind their own struggles to reach where our ansesters led us to. The science of life that was discovered long ago but lost due to being closer yet far.......

YES WE ARE SOO CLOSE( PHYSICALLY) TO EACH OTHER, BUT YET FAR AWAY FROM EACH OTHER.

The only device that separates us in person is this super invention called smart phone?
We value others opinion on twitter, and miss out the subtle communication of our own kids, should i blame the gadget or the user of the gadget?
We look at others culture and wish we had that in ours, did we bother to sit next our own grandparents and understand if we had them? Should we blame the usage of the gadget or the user?

We do not read the users manual but follow what others mention about it on utube. Should utube or the usermanual say, please spend time with your near ones who are next to you???

Think dear ones. Just nice posts on instagram with our best looking faces or creating fear by updating every small detail on to the social media does not change what we eat or wear or dress or talk within family at a given point in time and space.

I know this is one of my longest posts. But this is going to be the case for every future thats going to come up. No point looking at sunrise only on vacations no point looking at sunrise pics only on instagram. Step up and step out with your loved ones. create a day in a week without connection you will be surprised you actually met new friends and acquaintances not just some random fake face on face book. 

Yes we are currently so near and yet to far knowing each other. The sad phase of this generation. IF you want it to be happy make a small change in your routine and u will realise you can do it. you can reverse the near yet far to... near and dear.

Mentor

At every stage of our life we have a mentor and as humans we seek out to one. There is no age factor and all one needs to be qualified with is experience or the relevant knowledge for the same. I am proud to say that my younger sister has also been one, but it’s when she always tells me about my spellings and the uncanny communication I recollect one such mentor of my life. There were many challenges I faced at work place – one was; my superiors been compared with a shop floor entrant (me) by my super seniors, that I am sure hits their ego. She called me one day on one of the emails I had circulated to a small group internally, asked me to tell her the reason why I wrote such an email. She patiently listened to it completely and asked me to read the email loudly right on her desk that I had sent. I found that funny and at the same time curious why she wanted me to do it. On reading it I realized that what I intended did not come out on that email as clearly the way I explained to her.

Sleep Cricket… Dream Cricket…. Eat Cricket….. Breathe Cricket……………………

Little do I know about cricket. But hey! Wait, here is my cousin who dreams, sleeps, talks, walks and breathes cricket. It is just not a dream but a dream come true. No dream is a success or achievement till there is hard work and dedication. Behind any success or achievement there is a whole lot of hard work, self-driven PASSION towards achieving the goal, BOOST and MOTIVATION at every moment. This is where the key role of parents and supporters come into picture. As for my cousin, his mom (Chitra), dad (Ravichandran) and grandpa (Narayanaswami) have, and are continuing to give their full support to him since his age eight to be a self-made and successful cricket player.
